Job Purpose/Summary

The Head of Corporate Services is responsible for overseeing the Human Capital, Procurement, and Maintenance Units. This role involves developing and implementing strategies that effectively manage the company’s workforce and non-ICT physical assets. The position plays a key part in driving organizational growth and ensuring operational efficiency across key support functions, contributing to the overall success of the company.

Key Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the work of the Organization Development Specialist, in developing and improving policies, procedures, tools and frameworks to support the entire employee life-cycle.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of strategic human resources initiatives aligned with the company’s overall objectives.
  • Supervise Human Capital Business Partners in collaborating with Line Managers to translate corporate strategy into departmental and individual performance targets.
  • Ensure the effective execution of employee life-cycle activities and serve as a relationship manager for key human capital processes.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to Line Managers for the implementation of human capital strategies.
  • Ensure a conducive working environment across all VKA offices, particularly regarding buildings and premises.
  • Offer thought leadership to Executives, Line Managers, and Organizational leaders on key human capital and performance management issues.
  • Oversee the HR Lead who manages routine human capital processes, including employee communications, payroll, and statutory payments.
  • Supervise the management of Human Capital information systems and records, both physical and digital, while ensuring effective help-desk services for employees.
  • Prepare and monitor the annual budget for office services, ensuring adherence to financial controls and expenditure tracking.
  • Ensure timely procurement activities, adherence to processes, and maintenance of quality standards.
  • Oversee the maintenance of company facilities, assets, and office equipment, including electrical appliances and plumbing.
  • Ensure the general security of company premises, including management of security staff and systems.
  • Maintain an updated VKA asset dashboard to track company assets efficiently.
  • Manage payments related to business premises, including local government dues and office-related expenses across all locations.
  • Oversee estate management activities, including renewals, rent payments, and rate ad-ministration.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the Executive Management on matters related to human capital management and organizational performance.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on human capital activities and overall performance to the Executive team.
  • Lead human capital projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader company strategies.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to the Human Capital management team, fostering a culture of growth and development.
  • Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and fleet management of the company’s assets.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • HND/Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree or relevant postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
  • Relevant certifications such as CIPM, SHRM, or CIPD in Human Resources.
  • Certifications in Procurement, Asset Management, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 18 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, Corporate Services, or Facilities Management, with at least 6 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Solid understanding of human capital management, estate management, and procurement processes.
  • High level of proficiency in HRIS, procurement software, and asset management systems.
