Job Purpose/Summary

The Senior Human Resources Manager will be responsible for leading strategic and operational aspects of HR functions within the hotel. The ideal candidate will oversee talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, compliance and performance management while leveraging HRMS systems to drive operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making with the purpose of building a high-performing, engaging, and motivating workforce that delivers exceptional guest experiences.

Key Functions/Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior management, providing insights on workforce planning, organizational development, and employee engagement.
  • Lead talent acquisition efforts to attract and retain top talent in the hotel industry.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop, implement, and drive HR strategies that align with the hotel’s long-term goals and mission.
  • Manage policies for shift work, ensuring compliance with labor laws regarding overtime, rest breaks, and fair rotation of shifts for staff working nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure that all health and safety standards are met in compliance with local regulations, providing a safe work environment for employees.
  • Lead organizational change initiatives, guiding managers and staff through new processes, restructures, or operational changes.
  • Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and fleet management of the company’s assets.
  • Develop HR initiatives that support a guest-first culture, ensuring that every employee, from front desk to housekeeping, is trained to deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Implement specialized training programs that cater to hotel-specific roles, such as concierge, housekeeping, kitchen, and front office staff, ensuring employees understand their impact on the overall guest experience.
  • Use HR analytics to manage labor costs, adjusting staffing levels based on occupancy rates, guest traffic, and event bookings, ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the use of HRMS systems to maintain accurate employee records, generate reports, and ensure efficient payroll and benefits management.
  • Design and implement engagement surveys, retention strategies, and programs that enhance employee satisfaction and productivity.
  • Act as the senior point of contact for employee relations issues, resolving conflicts and addressing grievances promptly and fairly.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive performance management system that provides constructive feedback, drives performance improvements, and supports career growth.
  • Implement effective onboarding programs that ensure new hires are equipped for success and aligned with the hotel’s culture and values.
  • Ensure that all HR policies and procedures comply with current labor laws and regulations, minimizing legal risks to the organization and manage relationships with external regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Oversee the development and administration of competitive compensation structures and benefits packages to attract and retain talent.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Business Administration or related disciplines.
  • A master’s degree or professional certification i.e. CIPM, SHRM
  • Minimum of 18 years progressive experience in HR management with at least 5 years in a managerial position within the hospitality industry
  • Experience in managing HRMS platforms (such as Oracle, SAP, Workday, or similar systems), with the ability to generate data-driven insights and manage HR operations efficiently and hands on experience in payroll, data management, and reporting.
  • In-depth understanding of the hospitality industry, particularly hotel operations
  • Strong understanding of labor laws and regulations specific to the hospitality industry, with experience ensuring compliance at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve complex employee relations issues with tact, discretion, and fairness.
