Job Purpose/Summary

As an Account Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, handling reconciliations, managing payables and receivables, and supporting the business with financial insights.

Key Functions/Responsibilities

  • Reconcile daily sales across POS systems, bank statements, and accounting records.
  • Maintain day-to-day financial records and ledgers update.
  • Monitor inventory and stock records related to purchases and usage in hospitality operations.
  • Liaise with external auditors, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely tax and regulatory filings (VAT, PAYE, WHT).
  • Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, variance analysis and expense control.
  • Track operational expenses and ensure cost control across departments.
  • Provide financial insights to operations and management for decision-making.
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable and follow up on overdue invoices.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
  • Disbursement of cash based on approved budget.

Required:

  • B.Sc. degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as an account officer in the hospitality industry.
  • Proficient in the use of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or hospitality POS systems)
  • Possession of professional certification (ICAN, ACCA)
  • Sound knowledge of basic tax laws (VAT, WHT, PAYE) and financial regulations

 Desirable:

  • Ability to train junior accounting or operations staff on financial best practices
  • Knowledge of cost control techniques in F&B and hospitality
  • Knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and hospitality-specific accounting regulations
