Job Purpose/Summary

The Business Development Manager will manage the operations and growth of the company’s travel and tour business. The individual will ensure financial stability, operational efficiency, and strategic growth. This role will focus on managing key business functions including travel and tour operations, client relationships, financial management, and business development. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities and the capacity to drive profitability and business growth.

Key Functions/Responsibilities

  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within the travel and tour industry.
  • Preparing operational expenses, profitability, and budget adherence and presenting financial reports and performance metrics to senior management.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with third-party service providers for travel and tour services.
  • Negotiating with travel agencies, airlines, hotels, and car rental services to secure the best rates and service levels.
  • Ensuring all travel operations comply with local, state, and federal laws, including safety standards, environmental regulations, and labor laws.
  • Analyzing operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement and make informed business decisions based on this data.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment and operational success.
  • Developing, implementing, and refining operational processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain service excellence.
  • Monitoring and reporting budgets, expenses, and profitability metrics as well as identifying areas for cost-saving and efficiency improvements while maintaining service standards.
  • Analyzing existing operational workflows and implementing process improvements to boost productivity, minimize errors, and enhance efficiency.
  • Suggesting and implementing risk management policies in order to safeguard the company against operational, financial, and regulatory risks.
  • Overseeing and ensuring audits and safety inspection findings are documented and reported promptly in addition to making sure that corrective actions are implemented.
  • Work closely with the customer service department to ensure timely delivery and top-notch service quality and address operational issues that may affect service delivery.
  • Identifying operational gaps, leading process improvement initiatives, and driving innovation in travel management practices.
  • Developing and implementing risk management strategies related to travel and tour operations, including safety protocols, insurance, and emergency response plans.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operation Management, or relevant field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development management, especially within the travel and tour industry.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in managing teams and driving results through leadership and collaboration.
  • Strong knowledge of travel and tour management software (e.g. GPS tracking, maintenance software), ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, cost management, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret trends, and make data-driven decisions.
