Job Purpose/Summary

  • To oversee the preparation, baking, and presentation of pastries, desserts, and baked goods in our hotel.
  • To deliver high-quality, visually appealing, and delicious products that exceed guest expectations.

Key Functions/Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and execute a wide range of pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and other baked goods.
  • Design and update dessert menus in coordination with the Executive Chef, incorporating seasonal and innovative items.
  • Supervise and train pastry staff to ensure consistency and quality in all baked products.
  • Monitor ingredient inventory, order supplies, and ensure proper storage and rotation of stock.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen according to food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel quality standards and health regulations.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team for special events, banquets, and customized dessert requests.
  • Manage production timelines to meet service demands without compromising quality.
  • Decorate and plate desserts creatively for both buffet and à la carte presentations.

Qualifications & Experience
Required:

  • Culinary degree or certification in Baking & Pastry Arts or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional pastry experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar baking role, preferably in a hotel or high-end restaurant.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards.
  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, chocolate work, sugar work, and baking principles.
