Job Purpose/Summary
The Quality Improvement (QI) Manager is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing hospitalwide quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency. This role involves monitoring compliance with regulatory standards, collecting and analyzing performance data, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement among healthcare professionals.
Key Functions/Responsibilities
Quality Improvement Initiatives
- Develop, implement, and oversee quality improvement programs and projects, focusing on clinical effectiveness, patient safety, and experience.
- Identify improvement opportunities across departments and lead initiatives to address gaps in quality standards and service delivery.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to ensure quality initiatives align with hospital goals and regulatory requirements.
Data Collection and Analysis
- Design and execute data collection strategies to monitor quality metrics and evaluate performance.
- Analyze data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement, reporting findings to hospital leadership.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate quality performance indicators to staff and stakeholders.
Compliance and Accreditation
- Ensure the hospital complies with national and international standards, including Federal Ministry of Health guidelines and other accreditation bodies.
- Lead internal audits and prepare for external assessments to ensure continuous compliance with healthcare standards.
- Update hospital policies and procedures in line with evolving quality standards and best practices.
Patient Safety and Risk Management
- Collaborate with clinical teams to develop and implement patient safety initiatives that reduce risks and prevent harm.
- Oversee incident reporting, root cause analyses, and action plans to address patient safety concerns.
- Lead training programs and workshops on patient safety and risk management for healthcare professionals.
Staff Training and Development
- Organize training sessions and educational workshops to promote a culture of quality improvement and safety.
- Develop materials and resources to increase staff awareness of quality improvement processes, policies, and practices.
- Mentor and support hospital staff in implementing quality improvement initiatives and methodologies.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as a liaison between hospital departments to drive collaboration on quality improvement projects.
- Engage patients and their families in feedback processes to identify areas for patient experience improvement.
- Build relationships with external partners, including regulators, to stay updated on quality standards and expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Nursing, Public Health, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with at least 3 years of managerial experience in quality improvement, healthcare management, or patient safety within a hospital or healthcare setting.
