Job Purpose/Summary

As an Account Officer, you will ensure the implementation of established and effective execution of robust financial control, investment, cash flow, regulatory payments and tax returns management.

Key Functions/Responsibilities

Financial Execution and Reporting:

  • Liaise with external auditors to ensure true representation of company’s position in the Financial Audit Report.
  • Proactively determine exchange rate for transaction processing for the business based on product and currency type.
  • Develop a free cash flow forecasting model, feeding from the business plan/budget of the Company.
  • Provide support by way of financial analysis and in reaching financial close in the various funding projects of the Fleet.
  • Provide support in the optimization of the finance expense of the business, such that the incidences of a debt overhang or unproductive interest are minimized.
  • Maintain data repository for investor relations activities, while providing market insight to senior management in the engagement of investors.
  • Prepare  monthly payroll together with associated tax and national insurance calculations and payments.
  • Organize the implement relevant national financial laws, regulations, guidelines, policies and systems to ensure the legal operation of the company and safeguard the rights and interests of shareholders.
  • Track bank deposits, payments and participates in financial audits.
  • Continually review and recommend process improvements and comply with recommendations from Internal and External Audit Reviews.
  • Generate internal management reports for management analysis and prompt decision making.
  • Involvement in business planning and budgeting sessions as well as performance monitoring against plan and variance analysis.
  • Participate in the decision making and plan formulation of the company’s investment behavior and important business activities, participate in the research and review of major economic contracts or agreements, and participate in the analysis and decision making of important economic issues.
  • Ensure that the financial controls within the business are working as planned and suggest ways of improving any areas of weakness.
  • To compute at intervals the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) of company’s business and suggest ways to optimize the WACC.
  • Maintain adequate data and record on shareholding structure, shareholding activities and take responsibility for shareholders distribution and related entries into the shareholders’ account
  • Conduct valuation analysis, gather due diligence data and provide support in publishing Information Memorandum toward successfully executing funding projects, acquisitions, mergers, credit rating, and public listing as may be necessary.

Leadership and People Management

  • Ensure efficient implementation of the financial policies and procedures.
  • Work through own team and influence department managers to ensure appropriate controls are in place to manage fleet risks.
  • Manage the daily performance, learning, and growth of the team, including one-on-one feedback sessions and performance evaluations.

Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with financial/lending institutions, external auditors, and other relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Manage the Finance and Accounting department for effectiveness ensuring optimal utilization of staff performance.

Required:

  • B.Sc. degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an account officer in a similar industry.
  • Proficient in the use of accounting software
  • Possession of professional certification (ICAN, ACCA)
  • Sound knowledge of basic tax laws (VAT, WHT, PAYE) and financial regulations

 Desirable:

  • Expert in the use of key ERP System accounting software packages
  • Experience of statutory financial reporting and knowledge of GAAP
