Job Purpose/Summary
The Business Development Manager will drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and leading market penetration initiatives within the oil and gas sector. Focusing on developing strategic partnerships, securing new business, and ensuring the company’s products and services align with client needs and industry opportunities.
Key Functions/Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of business development strategies and market penetration plans to achieve the company’s growth objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities within the oil and gas sector.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key industry stakeholders.
- Manage day to day relationships with existing clients while identifying opportunities to expand services and increase account value.
- Monitor industry trends and gather market intelligence on upcoming and ongoing projects within the oil and gas sector.
- Promote the company’s products and services by aligning solutions with client needs and project requirements.
- Identify immediate and long-term client needs and position the company’s services to meet those requirements.
- Support the preparation, submission, and follow up of bids, tenders, and proposals.
- Prospect for and acquire new high value clients while maintaining and expanding existing accounts.
- Deliver presentations and business proposals to prospective and existing clients.
- Develop strong commercial and technical understanding of the company’s products and service offerings.
- Monitor performance against agreed business development targets and contribute to revenue growth.
- Maintain and leverage professional networks to identify new opportunities and prospects.
- Represent the company at industry meetings, conferences, and association events to build relationships and generate new leads.
- Liaise with relevant regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders within the oil and gas sector to support business activities.
- Ensure proper follow up on client engagements and support the recovery of payments for services rendered.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in business development within the oil and gas industry, with at least 6 years in a management role.
- Strong knowledge of the Nigerian oil and gas sector (upstream, midstream, and downstream).
- Proven track record in client relationship management, sales growth, and securing major contracts in the industry.
- MBA is an added advantage.
